Benefits Of Meditating
What is meditation?
Meditation is a method of training the mind to focus and concentrate on a specific thought or attitude that causes your mind to become calm and positive.
This makes you feel happy about yourself and have a positive influence on others, and helps you have the capacity to deal with your daily problems in a constructive way.
The simplest meditations are based on focusing the mind on the breath, which allows the mind and body to relax. This is not the end goal of meditation but an essential and beneficial starting point.
With Buddhist meditation we have many different meditations for different situations, because we all have unique requirements at various times in our lives.
The main intention of Buddhist meditation is to train the mind to improve our good nature and inner qualities, such as patience, love and kindness, while at the same time reducing unhelpful thinking patterns that cause unhappiness, stress and anxiety.
You don’t have to be Buddhist to practise and benefit from meditation. Everybody is welcome to join a class at any time.
Meditation can help you:
Become more peaceful
When your mind is busy and unpeaceful, it's very difficult to be happy or relaxed, even when your surroundings and circumstances are good.
If your mind is peaceful, you'll be free from your daily worries, stresses and mental busyness. This allows you to feel relaxed and happy.
If you train in meditation regularly, your mind will gradually become more and more peaceful and you will experience genuine happiness and contentment.
